Post and Beam Architecture Highlighted at Custer State Park
Located along Wildlife Loop Road at the historic Buffalo Corrals, the Custer State Park Bison Center offers an immersive all-bison experience within the park’s 71,000 acres. Built with one of our custom post and beam kits, the structure combines durability, beauty, and functionality.

The centerpiece is a 36-foot-wide open hall featuring educational and historical exhibits about the park’s bison herd and conservation efforts. A gift shop adds convenience for visitors seeking souvenirs and local goods.

Two 22-foot lean-tos flank the main hall, each partially enclosed for indoor comfort and partially open for outdoor seating with prairie views. Extending the design, pergolas provide additional covered outdoor space, perfect for gatherings and programs.

This project exemplifies how post and beam architecture creates a striking, versatile space that connects people to nature while honoring the park’s heritage.
